Purchased a new 5800G sprayer from Toro this year.  Has about 40 hours on it now and have had two faulty boom valves so far.  Luckily I have a 5700D that I can pump the product from the new sprayer into and not waste too much $$.  The 5700D has 2500 hours on it and have only had to replace one boom valve!   Just curious if anyone else has had issues similar to mine??

Toro had a bad batch of boom valves and your distributor should be aware of the issue. Request the set of boom valves be replaced under warranty- we did this and have not have problems with the newer valves on a 5800G with GPS(10 valves total)

Installing the Capstan Sharpshooter Tip Management system will eliminate your boom valve issues once and for all and greatly improve the performance of the sprayer.
I met Steve Willey with Capstan Ag ten years ago and we began upgrading Toro 5700s and John Deere sprayers in the Chicago area with Sharpshooters and Wilger nozzle bodies and tips.  We have upgraded over 30 machines thus far including about 20 of the 5800s since they came on the market.  Sharpshooter will work with the standard ProControl and TeeJet rate controllers, but the majority of our upgrades included EnvisioPro/SwitchPro rate and section controllers to get mapping capability and individual nozzle control.  About a dozen clients have included the Turflux upgrade (Slingshot modem) to have RTK mapping capability.

We installed a Sharpshooter on a new Toro 5800 with GeoLink in July.  It works, as expected, flawlessly.  If you asked any of our clients what they think of the upgrade I'm sure they would tell you that they wouldn't buy another sprayer without it.   ROI in product savings within a year or two and significant improvement in application accuracy which is coming under greater scrutiny in most areas of the country.
