We have a Toro 5210 (diesel)  fairway mower that will randomly shut off.  Cuts out during transport and mowing, but sometimes while we are mowing if we raise the reels it can recover.

Other than the basics (battery, fuel filter, seat switch) we have checked or replaced the fuel pump, CPU mother board (took it off one of our other units...didn't solve the problem) hydro-transmission proximity switch and the fuel pump solenoid. None of which solved the issue.

    Any suggestions???

Thank in advance for any help.

Watch the temperature light bar.  It probably spikes to full when it shuts off.
Run a heavy ground wire (#12 gauge) from the controller back to the neg battery terminal and this should solve your problem.  Making sure you have a good ground is where you need to start on the newer equipment unless you are sure you have a failed componment.  A good ground is very important on newer vintage machines.  The electronic are very sensitive to having a good ground.  Be sure to let us know if this solves the problem?

Thanks for your help Mr. Tripp.  While inspecting (and replacing) some of the ground wires, we found the high limit switch and wiring on the thermostat to be at fault.  Replaced and now runs fine.
