We have a gravel parking lot and also cart paths. Don't have the funds to pave either at this time. So... looking for help out there for products and solutions to keep the dust down. Tried the soy-oil method, didn't work to our liking. Thanks Bill

Calcium chloride in your spray rig will do it.

Steven- can you drive carts on the same day you put down the chloride? What size tips did you use? Would you recommend using a stand-alone sprayer just for that application or does it not do harm to a sprayer that would be used on turf? Appreciate the response. Bill

I have just used my regular setup of ai nozzles at 30 gpa and washed the rig out real good when I'm done. We drove on it immediately with no ill effects, but I have Bermuda which is pretty tough, so I can't say if you have a cool season grass. Probably the best thing to do is let it dry real good or even spray it in the evening and let it go through an irrigation cycle before driving on it. Be aware that calcium chloride destroys soil structure and that's how it works as a dust control, so you really don't want out on your grass.
It works best on a wet surface, the rates vary, but the most common formula is a 35% solution, which is fairly strong. Anything higher than that will fall out of solution in colder temps. I would start out with a 10% solution and see how that works.

Magnesium chloride will also work, it really doesn't make any difference, it's a function of the concentration of chloride rather than the the makeup of the salt.
