Every spring I am pretty aggressive with topdressing and verticutting. I usually back off in June July and August because I have a lot of poa mixed in my bent on old push-up greens. September I am back at it. This year I seem to have developed more grain than usual. I tried verticutting the putting green then mowed, as is my usual course of action. This time, however, I pulled up some decent stuff and got some severe scalping. So now I am planning on holding off verticutting until October(cooler) and instead I was going to drag dry turf with a coco mat and then mow followed by topdressing. Planning on doing this until October. Does anybody else have some other ideas as to how alleviate this and help prevent during the summer month in the future?
I have attached a link to my photobucket. One picture is grain after I ran my hand over it and the other is the scalping after I mowed it.

Let me add a couple of things. Every summer I raise the height of cut to .140 and switch to solid rollers. This year I went to solid rollers but increased height to .150. Also, every year I use Primo very regularly at about 10 - 15oz/acre. this year I used Legacy at about 10 - 12oz/acre.
I usually put .5lbs of N/1000 of organic fertilzer at aerification, .75lbsN/1000 of 100% methylene urea in May and approx. .1lbN/1000 every two weeks starting in May. Then about 1lbN/1000 in the fall. So in a year, anywhere from 3 to 4 lbsN/1000 a year.

Maybe my increase of grain more than usual is because of the higher than normal height of cut or the addition of Legacy?
