Hello everyone, I was hoping to find out how much some of you may have paid to get an irrigation pump rebuilt. Service guy yesterday recommends us to rebuild our pumps (I do not know why they are oonly 16 years old). He said the average life is generally about 7 years. I was hoping to just get some ball park to pass on to my board. Would like to plan it in the winter and I am too busy to try to get guys out to get estimates and we both know that an estimate is just a round a bout number until they tear it apart and see what type of damages you may have.

I had a 50hp US Motors Vertical shaft pump rewound/rebuilt for $3500 including removal and installation.

I had my other one, a Newman 50 hp Vertical shaft pump rewound/rebuilt several months later for $4200 including removal and installation.

I have had my 60hp pumps rebuilt several times. 5K to rewind the motors, 7k to rebuild the pumps.

I am not sure if you are talking about the electric motors or the pump . Our PSI pump station is 32 years old. The pump motors have never burned out and have never been re-built. Our pumps were re-built perhaps 15 years ago but I do not remember the cost. The pumps were looked at by a professional this past January and said they should last several more years.

I was looking for the pumps. We rebuilt the motors last year (rewound for about $3,500 for both by a local shop). I know ours will still run but my jockey pump is only pushing about 50-60% of the water it is supposed to. Not sure about the 50hp ones. He recommended getting them rebuilt one per year due to the play and wear in the shafts. They are 16 years old but still work pretty good. I can push about 1100gpms right now, which was only slightly down from their original 1250gpms. I was just trying to get an idea of what others may have paid to get theirs done was all. Thanks

-Crane and labor to install new pump, test and calibrate pump and pump station

    $7757.00

in 2013 I had the pump assembly on one of my 50 HP pumps rebuilt.

Labor to remove turbine and motor $600.00
Replace 6" column assembly and suction strainer $2200.00
    10EMM 6 Flowserve Bowl assembly $4820.47
    rebuild stuffing box $162.50
6" Wafer style check valve $167.00

Thanks Keith, that gives me something to work with.

I really hate it when my board ask me to get quotes when they have no chance of doing the work at the moment. This is a winter time project and mine are still working pretty good so far.

I bought a PSI Pump Station with three 75hp turbine pumps for $85,000 including installation. I had to rebuild a pump and motor three times at $8000 each. It is hard to imagine that is 10% of the price of the whole station.

In 14 years I have replaced every pump and motor on my station (3). The jockey motor has been replaced 3 times and the pump twice. I think a lot of it depends on your water quality. I seem to have a lot of sediment in my water. Anyways if they are vertical turbines then I believe around 2 to 3 thousand to rewind the motors, be sure the primary thrust bearing gets replaced. The pumps really depend on size and operating pressure number if stages I believe. Unless you only have one pump I wouldn't do anything other than maintenance (lube and oil) until there is a failure.
