Let me preface this by saying personally I have been awarded a 2011 Chapter ELGA, a local Chamber of Commerce Environmental Innovation award and will be recognized by the club's local city council on Nov 19 for my work on golf and the environment. But is the word "Sustainability" not the most overused phrase in turf management right now? We are a rural 27 hole semi-private club in Ontario, Canada and we really are being pushed into "being green" by our archaic IPM laws.

I'm working on an article for an industry publication and would love to hear some feedback....

Great video and there are some valid points. I agree that true 100% sustainability is not possible if we all want to keep our jobs. We have to balance golfer expectations with profit margins and what's best for the long term health of the environment. One big thing that the gentlement talked about was metrics, which maybe measureable but the big x-factor is weather! I would think a golf course has more enviromental benifit than a paved surface of a Church or strip mall. This is not a topic that is going away any time soon. Golf is a luxury not a right and i beleive there is plenty of things we can do as an industry to improve our status in society. Water usage is a huge issue and all of us need to promote what we are doing to help the environment.

This is a possible way to help promote and show what you are doing to help the environment.
