I just saw that some annoying little redneck toddler named Honey Boo Boo had more viewers than several TV shows last night. Anyone that watches a little Toddlers and Tiara's kid or the Kardasians rather than just leaving the TV off is a very poor indictment of our culture. We are indeed doomed if this is considered entertainment. Just think, these people may even be in a grocery store with you! Be afraid, very afraid! They make the Hutterites look mainstream!

I agree Sandy. I watch maybe one hour per week and try to find something on Discovery or History, but even that is getting harder. They seem to be getting away from real documentaries and more into so called "reality" following around archeologists who make "startling discoveries" during the show, that lack any peer review or normal scientific process.
I have yet to understand the relevance of Snooki and Kim and so many others. You can walk down any street and see train wrecks. Why would anyone want to spend their limited recreational time watching any of it.
Indeed America is doomed along with every one else in the "civilized world"

Funny how it took a horrible little kid for America to see how wrong things are (rating for Honey Boo Boo were higher than the Mitt Romney fest in Tampa). I watched 30 secs of that crap and turned it off. On a positive note Jersey Shore was cancelled.

It's all about the money, we're stupid enough watch that stuff and they make it because it cost so much less to make then the real good shows.

Exactly why 85% plus of TV is repeats or cartoons stupidity! The rest is paid for view movies, sports, or advertising shows. Oh wait I forgot 2.5% of 24 hour news of which most is one sided trying to get you to pick one side or another of ideology or election discussion! America has declined to a sad reality of people acting like Mr Ed, or Andy Griffith, I love Lucy, Munsters.....oye vey! Oh wait....... please beam me up Scottie!!!

I never turn my TV on yet I spend over $150 per month for cable. I am snapping out of it slowly but surely.

    Here's the move, dudes:

Two months ago we decided to cut the cable. No more cable tv. We cut our bill by $100. I bought instead a streamer made by Sony. This device is basically a little computer that hooks into the internet and streams whatever you like or have a subscription for. Downside is I get no local news or live national coverage which, to be honest, I don't care for anyhow.
It cost $30. I pay for a netflix account for $10 a month. Anything else I want to watch that I can't stream, with a little looking in the right spot, I can download in less than a minute via torrent. It serves our purposes fine, and has got us reading the paper more, which is something I didn't know I missed.

Nice plan and wish I could do it...........an addiction that is hard to cut........not that what I watch is that good or even important, just a bad habit. I could not live without my daily paper in my hand in the mornings. Most mornings my paper guy hands it to me as I am walking dogs are coming back from my morning run.

I guess the little red neck honey boo boo beat out Clinton as well. Thank goodness the NFL rescued us from the rest of America!

Read the fine print on that story, Sandy. Facts are for ignoring though, so, whatever floats your boat, Sir.

That is too trivial of a matter to invest any research time. That one was just worth passing on the headline!

Honey Boo Boo don't care bout no facts! Did you guys catch the 'Call of the Wildman' marathon this weekend? Now that was some real live action! This discussion reminds me of the line in that Stones song about the devil- 'who shot the Kennedy's? after all, it was you and me' (or something to that effect). If we want to find someone to blame for the state of our country, each of us should start with the man in the mirror.

Yes, but look what happened to Michael Jackson. He looked in the mirror one too many times and it killed him! Watch out for the evils of the mirror.
