Presently using a LandPride 4211 behind a JD 4520 tractor. 11' cut. Lease is up in October. What else is out there? I've had several problems with this unit with PTO shaft issues. I cut at 2.5", 35 hours a week, rough terrain. How about the Lastec Articulators? Any luck with those units? Thanks.

After owning a lastec for 8 years I switched to the Gravely pull behind a month ago. While it only has three decks it does not scalp at my course. It has less maintenance parts over all then the Lastec and should be cheaper to maintain over the long haul. It only cost about $13,000 too.

I am almost committed to purchasing a Progressive ProFlex 120 which is a 5 deck pull behind. I had it for a couple of days as a demo and its amazing how much ground you can cover. I also like the fact that is has no rollers to take a beating on our Pine roots lining almost every hole. Anyone own one?

We have had a Proflex 120 for 3 years now and love it . We had lastec articulaters before and the proflex has a better cut.

Just finished demo-ing a proflex 120. We were VERY impressed with the unit. We ran some numbers and the unit was almost 3x more efficient than our JD8800 rough units. The cut was very smooth and even, and there was no scalping. The only down fall is that you have to tie up a tractor to run it, but you can almost get both rough unit and tractor for less than a new 8800. We will be getting one on our new lease package in March.

how well does the proflex cut with heavy dew or wet grass. Do I still have to run a blower behind it.

The Pro Flex does clump in wet tall grass. We did eliminate some of the clumping by welding the chutes up as high as we could get them.

The idea for me is to be able to get around the golf course fast enough to not let the rough get to a problematic height. With exception of poor weather, tournaments etc. We are going to get a new Tractor and this unit (hopefully) so its a win/win for us.

For those of you that have the Progressive ProFlex 120, what about repair issues? Compared to the Lastec?
Ease of repair? I'm demoeing both the Lastec and ProFlex in the next few weeks. Thanks for the replies.

I have been using 2 Lastec 721XR's for about ten years. Keep belts tight, blades sharp and grease weekly and they are the best mowers around. We cut around trees with 61" Zero turn and bunkers with a 32" landscaper walkbehind leave very little to string trim. We had an orginal articulator before that. Tough machines we do go through a couple sets of wheel bearings a year on double wheel but that is main issue. R&R has all the basic parts, really a no brainer.

Proflex 120 great heavy duty machine. Be sure to set up hitch properly to avoid problems and it will last years my only problem is the deck tires last 3 years max. We have one with around 6000 hours on it (8 years)and its been rebuilt once over the winter.
