Has anyone tried sanding greens very light, not brushing but watering in and then rolling the next day or two before mowing. We're looking at a very dry summer so trying keep the stress level as low as possible

Pre Wide-spin and with unlimited budget and crew, we would top dress with bagged kiln dried sand using push spreaders then just let the evening's cycle knock it down. Usually went out so fine and dropped immediately you couldn't even tell anyway. With such a light application and the fact that only spreader tires touch turf, this is practically stress free with no need to roll. Even though this may be pricey, a few applications made this way may get you through.

The Wide-spin can put down a dusting the same way but now you are dealing with mechanical stress. I am very pleased with the results none the less. Not as light as push spreaders, but close. A quick shot with a little water, then the surface is left to dry. Haven't had any complaints yet. Depending on the how stressful the day is you could easily roll once the sand is dry that afternoon.

    Hope this helps, good luck!
