Members of the ESAGCS, we have lost a friend. We are saddened to announce the passing of Hilda K. Stagg, wife of Ben Stagg. She passed away at the William Hill Manor in Easton, MD on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was 76. Most of us here on the shore who have been around for a while remember Hilda fondly from the early days of the crab picnics at Hog Neck where Ben was the superintendent and later as Ben's chauffeur while Ben made the rounds for Egypt Farms. She was truly one of the sweetest ladies you would ever hope to meet. She will be missed.

Some excerpts from her obituary; Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on September 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Hilda Hackett Kury. Her family moved from Philadelphia when she was eleven years old to Snow Hill, Md. She attended public school there and graduated in 1955 from Snow Hill High School. In 1956, she married James Benjamin Stagg, a young dairy farmer; together they made their home working the family farm. Mrs. Stagg also worked at various jobs in the Worcester Co. area including bookkeeper at Tri-State Oil Co., in Snow Hill, and as Finance Director for the Worcester Co. Dept. of Social Services. They moved to Easton in 1974, when Mr. Stagg accepted a position as Superintendent at Hog Neck Golf Course. Mrs. Stagg transferred to the Talbot Co. Dept. of Social Services in Easton, then to Annapolis and finally back to Easton where she remained until her retirement. Following her retirement, she volunteered for the Talbot and Caroline Co. Hospice Foundations.

Since moving to Talbot Co., Mrs. Stagg has been very involved with her church family. Mrs. Stagg loved to work and tend to her yard and flowers, she liked to keep things in order, she especially loved being with and caring for her family. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by four children, and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Christ Episcopal Church, Easton, Md.

I am passing this on so that people who know Ben can pass on Condolences, The Staggs are wonderful people and are always my friends. I shall be saying prayers for her in Shul this Sabbath for sure.
