    Greetings -

This is quite a bit of food for thought. Food in many more ways than one.

    Subject: America's Hunters

Hate to say it but we might have to mobilize them come January ?

Interesting slant on things AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty Amazing! The world's largest army... America 's Hunter's had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin . Allow me to restate that number:
600,000 - Over the last several months,Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran .

More than France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state,
Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more.

    The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting.... it's not just a way to fill the freezer.. It's a matter of national security.

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control. Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions
that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain... what army of 2 million
would want to face 30, 40, or 50 million armed citizens? For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control
    or confiscation of guns.

I have no idea if this is true or not. Sounds like a lot of hunters to me. Have fun with it.

We must not be as safe here in Missouri, there is always some story about someone getting hurt, although I don't know if it happens more in bow or gun season.

Interesting thought, must be why we keep allowing multiple round clips, just in case we get invaded, if someone needs that many rounds to kill a deer, maybe they shouldn't be hunting?

Agreed Kirk, and consider this. A huge percentage of these hunters are expert long range rifleman, pistol shooters, archers, survivalists, and tactical technicians among other disciplines. I hope and pray that our skills may never be put to the test for any thing other than sport. Sounds like a lot of people I want on my team!

Mel.....you must be talking about "magazines" a "clip" is an entirely different thing than what you think it is and lets us gun nuts know that you don't spend much time on the range.
I am a shooter and a hunter and I see no need for high capacity magazines except that when I'm shooting my .45 at the range, it's nice not have to spend so much time reloading.
Deer hunting accidents are a tragedy, but they pale in comparison to the carnage inflicted by the automobile.

    Regards,

    Steve

Mel it must be those hillbillies your refereneced in another post. And I agree with Steve, glad you don;t spend much time at the range or in the woods.........you could be dangerous. LIke Steve I enjoy 1 or 2 days at the range a week shooting my pistols also ......excellent stress relief. And dispite the rumor Scott has spread I do not use targets with his likeness on them.

Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. – James Madison

Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. – John F. Kennedy

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." --Thomas Jefferson

I guess you could say we have the worlds largest nuisance brigade since hunters are very important in keeping the wildlife population in check. I would also guess that anyone foolish enough to try invading the USA would be a nuisance!

We all have our hobbies, and I don't begrudge those that enjoy hunting, even though I'm an animal lover too. I also don't have a problem with those that shoot to blow of steam or for the skill and sport in that. Back in 1960 my dad almost made the base shooting team at Forbes AFB. He would go hunting on occasion, so do many of my relatives. I didn't want to kill animals, so I only would go fishing (I guess I didn't see them as animals, although later in life I would catch and release if I was lucky enough to catch in the first place).

But I still don't see why we need clips that hold more then a dozen bullets. But hey politicians on either side aren't bringing it up and we have bigger issues for them to get done then worrying about this.

    Hey Ron,

I forgot what your post said, but I don't remember it being that bad.

Maybe you could give us the highlights in code, something diificult to decipher. Maybe where a "1" is an "A", a "2" a "B", like that.

    Capt. Kirk,

Just as a point my good friend is a retired Navy Seal and construction superintendent, he too is a big time hunter. The man own more guns and fire arms than one could fire in a day, I own none. We often chat about why I do not have one, he believes we all should have one at home just in case the time arrives invasion occurs ect.. I just laugh and remind him of the fact he cannot load and fire all of his rifles m14's, handguns all at once, that in fact, when that time comes I will be at his house. He then shall place me at a window and show which direction to shoot! We both laugh and he says Gregg you are right we shall be safer if I keep the guns here! Truth is I am waiting for you to get me a good lazer, its much cleaner than a bullet!!! LOL

    Beam me up Scotty....

I just said target practice with a certain image would be fun. Somebody around here sure is sensitive. If DMac wants an image of me to blast I would be honored.
