We are going to be upgrading to some new greens triplexes. Had the JD 2500E in for a couple days and used it hard. Got the Triflex hybrid in today and are going to be using it over the weekend. I'm looking for outside opinions and especially those from Technicians that work with them on a regular basis.

Couple of notes I found while jockeying around the cutting units. I really liked the size, weight and ease of use on the JD cutting heads. While the tool-less removal of the motor, and the clips to pull of the cutting unit on the toro model were nice, the cutting heads just felt really cumbersome and heavy. The center pull out cutting head from toro is pretty handy as well. John Deere's baskets kinda sucked to pull on and off for a couple folks. Operation wise, I still hate the traction control for the Toro triplexes. Independent forward and reverse doesn't allow the operator to hammer forward into reverse as quickly. The cockpit on both are comfortable I guess, but I give simplicity to the operator to the JD model. Minor features I suppose, but location of radio slot and cupholder are more readily accessible.

Other questions to ask those using them. Gas vs. Diesel on a hybrid? The JD unit was a diesel, and I went through only 2.2 gallons of fuel in 2 days use. I liked not hearing the grunt of the motor on some of our long hill climbs. The triflex is a gas, and we'll see how powered it is tomorrow.

Any thoughts will be much appreciated. It'll come down to operator comfort and cost ultimately, but a few outside opinions are always good to hear and go off of.

We recently demoed the Triflex and were a little underwhelmed. The suspension technology is nice but felt it offered little else. We've had the JD2500E for about a year now and really like it. Our eq. tech only has to adjust the contacts once a week or so. Just check the HOC and go. I was a little concerned at first about the quick adjust method, but have been very satisfied thus far.

We have the Deere 2500E and B series models, and they are good units. I just had a demo unit of the tri-flex and we were very impressed with it. We took the cutting units down, ground everything and did our setup process on it and the time was much faster than the Deere units. The quality of cut was outstanding. I felt the comfort was nice, and it was a much more quite than the Deere. I like the fact the Deere heads are a true unrestricted floating head, but the Triflex follows contours really well. There is really nothing to come out of square like the Deere heads if you hit something. With the Deere you can do a lot more tweaking and fine tuning to them, so it really depends on what you're wanting to do with cuttings. I think all three companies have great triplex units. We really did like the Triflex....
