Anyone come up with a good way to remove the bearings from the front rollers? They are the ones like pump bearings but with no hole to allow easy removal like the 3100 reel rollers have. I have an old set that I steal from but that will end soon so how do I get the old bearings out, or the outer ring that is left inside the roller on the majority of my reels now?

We tack weld a piece of all thread on the end, then set the vice jaws so they are open just a little wider than the bearing.
Put a heavy washer on the all thread tighten up a nut and keep fighting till it pops out. Works best with two people.

If you're puller has two tangental threaded holes, I'd grind a notch on 2 sides of the bearing stub, slip the puller over the stub, tighten 2 screws into the grooves and pull. To me, that's a little easier than drilling. If the bearing stub has a 3/8" fine thread hole in the end I'd screw in a 5/8-3/8 NF adapter and pull it out. (Any roller shaft, not just water-pump bearings can be removed like that) Minute 4:30 of the following video

If the bearing guts come out and leave the outer race (I assume that's what you're calling the "ring") in the roller, this is the procedure I use...

    Roland,
When the guts do fall out, what make of bearing puller are you using?
