Hello everyone, We are trying to cut our fairways back out again after 10" of rain last week and I find that my 5410 front reels will not cut the thick grass where as the rear reels have no problem cutting it. My Jac mower has no issue cutting the thick grass either. The front reels are not plugged up because they still turn but they do not throw the grass out of themselves like the rear one does. Do yall know of any issues that would cause the front reels to loose power.
This is not the first time we have run across the issue since we had 10" of rain within a week about 1-2 months ago also.

From the service manual trouble shooting page:

Front cutting unit motors will not operate
but rear cutting unit motors will
    operate.

Solenoid valve MSV2 on mow control manifold is faulty (NOTE:
Solenoid valves MSV1 and MSV2 are similar and can be reversed
    for testing purposes).

Mow/backlap lever for front cutting units (MR2) not rotated fully.

An electrical problem exists that prevents MSV2 solenoid coil on
mow control manifold from being energized (see Troubleshooting in
    Chapter 5 -- Electrical System).

    Front cutting reel(s) is binding.

Gear pump section (P2) is worn or damaged.

We've had several MSV2 front valves (MSV1 rear) fail over the years. Had one just this morning with heavy corrosion under the coil and not opening the valve all the way. It usually shows up as either all 3 fronts not spinning as fast or the 2 rears.

Thanks Bret, that was the problem. we switched the front and back which solved the problem mostly and ordered and new coil.

Bret, thanks for the info today we think we may have fixed the problem but after seeing them cutting and throwing more grass then recently I took it to the shop to check all HOC's and check the cut on them. I decided to change the front bearings since some of them had .010" of play or more in them.

Could you give me that web site address again. I forgot it when I had two phone calls right after yours. Thanks again.

    Latest update

We pulled out the coil selinoid and pulled it apart and found a small bad o ring inside of the unit. We cleaned it and put a new o ring in it and now it works almost as good as new. Thanks for all of the advice!
