Does anyone have any experience with the effects of the Solo Rider
Unit on their greens? Any documented damage to the putting surface.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Just the grass clippings from tires Tommy. Frequently had to send a guy back to whip front nine greens. Thought I had pictures but they're probably on 35mm slides. You can definitely see the tire marks on greens through out the day though. Kenneth Ingram, UMD

They've been used on our course a few times. I saw no damage at all, but we're mini-verde and the time they were used was summer. Maybe on a more delicate green it could possibly be an issue. The gentleman that used it, approached us to say he would be careful. I think most that use them are just happy to be out and active.

The gentleman that frequently used one on our course (push up Poa/Bent greens) was a pretty big guy. Whenever he turned on the green, you could see his tire tracks for a while. I asked him to never turn on the green. He learned to drive straight on and straight off. On days when the greens were real wet (after rains) he agreed to just take two putts and stay off the greens. I would not expect any damage whatsoever on USGA spec greens.

    Tommy,

I had a gentleman with one of these Solo Rider carts come through last year. He inquired if we would allow him to use it prior to coming and I gave the OK with no exceptions. My greens are generally pretty firm and you could hardly tell he had been on a green a hour later. Somebody playing with aggressive spikes and dragging there feet here and there is much more disruptive. The caveat i would offer is that if you had cart restrictions due to weather they would also have to apply to the Solo cart.
