Is there anything wrong with brushing greens then turn around and verticut them, then mow??? I have T-1 greens and they get thatchy fast. I'm trying to be pretty aggressive with this kind of grass so it doesn't get out of control. I live in Minnesota and the weather this week is going to be great for verticutting. Any help would be appreciated........

We always verticut greens, then mow with brushes down right after. I think it makes for a cleaner cut. Cant imagine brushing would be bad before verticutting.

I would brush after as it makes the grass stand up, helps any loose clippings dry out, and scatters them around so they can be picked up by the mowers. Of course double cutting is also recommended as well.

We brush before to knock the dew off to provide for less mess. If it does not bother our Pencross/poa greens it shouldnt bother your T-1 greens.

We verticut 4 times a year and our system is brush, verticut (empty buckets every other pass), mow with old reels, blow, double cut with good reels, topdress, roll and water that night. Blowing has helped the clean up a lot.

We get around a cushman load of clippings per green on 7,000 sq foot average greens from the verticuter and have a employee just help empty buckets and haul the clippings away.

I go pretty deep. I kick up a lot of sand when verticutting... I think we are set at 1/8 to a 1/4 below HOC. It all depends on how aggressive the golf director wants us to get.....
