Air Compressors Cancel The title field is required!

   Building a new shop and looking at air compressors. Anybody ever buy an Atlas Copco rotary screw compressor?
   Is there a particular brand that you would recommend?

   Whatever you go with, get one with an insulated cabinet. We bought an Ingersoll-Rand with an insulated cabinet when we moved into this shop almost 8 years ago that has been solid for us. It's very quiet and half the time you don't even notice it is running. We also placed it on the opposite end of the mechanics bay and offices so it is even more un-noticable.
   
   I was trying to find the model on the IR website and noticed they have some rotary screw types that offer the "whisper quiet" operation.

   I recommend the IR Rotary Screw. Purchased one with dryer when in FL. I had it for over 7 years and it was working great. Very quiet and can take everything the shop can throw at it. I had 3 blow off stations for equipment over 300 feet from the shop and it kept up perfectly fine.

   Thanks guys. The one I'm looking at has an insulated cabinet, but I will have to look for a dryer.
   I appreciate the help, I haven't outfitted a new shop for, well....a long time.

   Try Air Centers of Florida that is who I purchased mine from and I believe Mike at Old Collier got his from there as well. They will send someone out and give you options and discus your needs. I believe they are in Tampa but I think they cover your area as well. Just a thought.

   Thanks, man. I'll call them in the morning. Just talked to Bigass fans, too about a 14' ceiling fan. That thing is badass.

   I wouldn't hesitate in a minute to also put in some exhaust fans as well. Large ones, 48" at least, to get the air moving quick. That's one thing I wish we had done when we built this shop. Too much smoke from welding, paint fumes, exhaust, etc...and not enough air movement.
   
   I like the idea of the ceiling fan. That would eliminate all our floor fans. Thanks for the idea!

    Years ago I did a new compressor and the brand was good and I forget that but something I did is put it in an out building of our shop complex (in the attic of that building) and we never could hear it. This was the best and it was checked every week and serviced on time, it was in that location maybe 15+ years. Did not need a cover and was out of the way. We ran all underground lines to our buildings (galvanized pipe) and put water traps in each area. I am in a shop now that if I can get the power changed I will be moving this compressor out also. I also had an extra large tank so the compressor did not come on as often. Also the tank does not have to be with the compressor but just in the system at almost any location.
