Hole In One Yardages Cancel The title field is required!

   For those of you that do outings, when you get a yardage for the hole in ones, do you set exactly to yardage on contracts or make them 5-10 yards longer just to be sure? I try to set them 5 yards longer but am not sure what is standard practice. Thanks in advance. Kim Brock

   I think most contracts are based on yardage,pro/amateur status of players, and number of players participating. The insurance company will charge you less for a 227 yd par 3 than they would on a 112 yd par 3, and more if pros are playing than if amateurs are playing. It's all about statistics.    I get them fairly close. My set up guy cuts the hole then I move the tees using my rangefinder.

   I thought I remember the last time we did one was there was a minimum yardage for a prize/hole, and we could move back from that minimum yardage by about 5 yards. We would set the pin also and then use range finder to get the distance. But range finders are 3+ yards from being exact?

   And make it as easy as possible, within the specified yardage. Doesn't cost you any extra if they win the prize.

   We set them a couple of yards back using a rangefinder from the Pro Shop, and then pray no one gets a hole-in-one.
   I have never had one scored during a tournament with the insurance program, but having bought the insurance for a tournament I put on it seems like it would be a real pain verifying everything. I recommend to groups who want to buy hole-in-one insurance to just use the money they would spend on upgrading proximity prizes on Par 3s. that way they end up with some real winners.

   Sean makes a good point about closer to the hole prizes will benefit more people but golfers love to see that car sitting on that unused tee and dreaming of that ace. I totally agree with Andy.........make the minimum allowable yardage. The only loser is the insurer if someone makes it. The dealer sells a car a sticker and the golfer pays some taxes (hey more taxes, that good for the democrats).
