Im curious to find out from the guys that are using the JD aercore 800 and if they are having problems with belts breaking. Our course is thinking of buying a used JD 800 and when I demoed it I couldn't make it thru 18 holes of tees without a belt breaking. Have used a JD 800 years ago and similiar thing happened. Any input or thoughts would be appreciated.

I have had the 1000 for six years with no problems.

We broke belts all the time. We replaced every belt on the machine at least once and replaced the belts that control the heads a couple times a year. No idea why but our dealer was always happy to ship new belts.

I had one of the belts for the aerator head break while coring tees this year. As soon as we fixed it and started again the other belt broke. I'm in the second year of my lease with this unit. Have had other issues with the idler switch that slow the motor at the start of a pass. Also make sure you get the model that has the hydraulic lift instead of the electric. The electric lift in the older one start to have issues and the only fix is to switch it over to hydraulic.

Ours had a little "timing" trouble for the longest time. Those are two different machines, and one would leave an odd pattern... the one with the tines offset just a little .... '''' '''' '''' something like that. We were tearing through belts as well. I made a shim that "stopped" the eccentric arm sooner as it threaded on and remedied it, I think.

Make sure it throttles down when lifting/lowering, should almost go to idle, and also check your high idle speeds. I am NOT a fan of the hydraulic system. In fact I upgraded one and it scared me so bad with its location I pulled it back out and reinstalled the electric lifts. I pay close attention to make sure they work in tandem and have very little trouble. Its when they get out of sync and have to work alone that they start to fail.

    Disregard arrow in 800-1.
