We have several plantings of Muhlenbergia Capillaris (Pink Muhly) and Schizachyrium scoparium (Little Bluestem). I am trying to figure out the safest herbicides to use in these areas?

Not sure if you mean pre or post emerge products. This is a tricky issue. As you probably know, not many herbicides include ornamental grasses on the label. I don't know what part of the world you are in but Jeff Derr at Virginia Tech is the guru with herbicide use in ornamentals. Google info under his name. I think you will be fine with most of the preemerge combination products on established grasses. Snapshot, Freehand, etc. That Pink Mulhy is all the rage isn't it! We had some at an entrance to campus and it was stopping traffic last August. Good luck. Kenneth Ingram, UMD

We mix pendimethalin in with the glyphosate when spot spraying. We also throw into the beds with our Ronstar apps. Also have set a Lely up to throw to one side and spread some unused prodiamine into all the beds.

Not sure about post on Bluestem, but I know it is safe to use Trimec Southern over the top of Muhly.
