This one goes back to the basics but with a knack for perfection when it comes to the details.

We are looking to develop a Tee Mowing System that would allow our operators to perfectly match the direction and color of the stripe on each Tee Box that is part of a complex. Many of our Tee Boxes are staggered with retaining walls between them, so simply mowing one straight line down the middle of the complex is not an option. Ideally you would be able to look down a stripe mowed 7-1 and the color as well as direction would match up with the stripe mowed 7-1 on the Tee Box in front of it.

Mowing the forward tee box first, then mowing the tee box behind it and matching up the stripes has worked okay so far. However I am interested if anyone has streamlined this strategy to create more efficiencies. We mow 110,000 square feet of tees with Jacobson 522's.

Thank you for any and all suggestions.

Charlie, try a compass. We used this method when I was back in pa and also at troon north. Just find your angle that you want and match it to the compass in degrees.

Compass on order. Thank you for the idea Dave. Hope all is well in Tucson with you and Daniel.

I use a reflector on a tree and paint one white dot on the edge of the fairway. Operator starts with machine on top of the white dot and drives to the tree with the reflector on it. Would not see why this couldn't work for tees.

Had the same issue at my previous club as an assistant. We did the compass thing too. Got a compass for each mower and tied it on. We went to each tee box (as managers) and found out the degree we wanted for each of the 3 directions; 5 to 11, 6 to 12, 7 to 1. We then printed up a little (business card size) spreadsheet for the operators that we laminated and attached to the mower also. The hardest part was getting them to understand how to read the compass, I should have spent more time training them on compass reading :). When it worked...it looked good! I tried using the helicopter theory to explain to them the relevance and how it could look to the members when they flew overhead in airplanes or helicopters, that they would be able to see it all lined up as one...that's when they really looked at me like I was crazy! :) Best of luck!
