   Had a local company come by today and showed us a mower they set up to run on propane. I have not had any hands on experience with these so this was a first for me. They will set up our mowers with tanks 7.5 gal, add the fittings(Regulator, safety switch and carburetor replacement), basically everything we need to swap, for the price of us purchasing propane from them, no contracts. Their price now is $2.50 per gal. I know it will fluctuate like oil prices do. Are any of you guys running propane mowers? May try it on a toro 3100 to see. Thanks for the feedback.

   When my first wife and I were starting out and bought a house (unfortunately we had to buy a bunch starting out, but fortunately you could make money on real estate in those days) she would trade over all of the existing appliances for a minimal monthly fee for propane appliances that were brand new, much cheaper to operate and maintained by the utility. That was 30 years ago and it was great back then. I bet it is super great now. They are the underdog. I would make the bet and assume they do a great job. If not, you tried.    The only thing i would want to know is, does a gallon of propane equal a gallon of gasoline in equipment output. Then you can get the real cost comparison. The one good thing right up front with the propane is that it burns very clean.

   We just signed a contract to buy propane at $1.85.I found out that these guys can really fluctuate their prices and that negotiating is a real part of their bussiness.

   Mark, have you ran any equipment yet or just beginning? I am looking for a performance aspect of the equipment, HP loss, torque dropping or other variables.
   
   Dennis, what he stated was that it was pretty much the same usage rate, 1 gallon of gasoline vs 1 gallon of propane.

   They claim not much power loss only at top end. Cleaner, engine runs cooler, increased time between oil changes, longer engine life. All tanks should be motor vehicle certified, equipped with a lockout valve in case line is broke or cut.

   Justan, we are using it to heat the shop and pool , kitchen ect.I did have an international truck that was converted and would run on either gas or propane with just a turn of a valve.Propane was slightly less use per gallon than gas and supposedly better for the enviroment.This was 25 years ago in Colifornia.
