I applied primo mixed with trimmit at a rate of 5 oz each per acre on our penncross greens. They are regulated to the point that it's making me nervous. Some varieties are looking yellowish to brown in the mornings with dew on them. We can mow about 2 acres of greens and our baskets are only 1/3 to 1/2 full. They are lighting fast but the color is not good in my eyes. I applied this same app. a couple of times last year and didn't see the discoloration. I'm thinking about applying some fert and iron and wait for them just to come out of regulation. Collars look the same way. You can see right were the app. ended. It looks to me as if the top of the leaf tissue is turning brown and just wilting back. Any suggestions would be good.

How about 2 oz sprint 330/1000 sq ft to deliver a low N rate as iron chelate. They will recover, it just takes some time. Be patient. Give them 7 days after the Sprint app to decide if you need to hit them harder with fertilizer.

Let us know what you decide to do and how it turns out.

I spray this combo on my penncross all of the time. Did you have anything else in the tank? A DMI in the tank with this combo could cause these symptoms. Don't be scared. They will look better beginning day 15. The worse thing you can do is throw other things at it. I would leave them alone and let them come out naturally. Enjoy your green speeds. This combo will regulate them like no other, but at the rates you mentioned they should not be that off color. I discolored mine last year, but Trinity was in the take with it. Still grew out though. Be patient. Hope this helps you sleep.

I have a couple of questions, Where are you located and are you having any frosty mornings? Very cool weather will turn your turf off color. DMI's can also ding the turf when mixed with some growth regulators.

I spray 16oz trimmit and 4.2 oz of primo per acre never see any discoloration. I always do add a foliar to make sure I dont see this. Actually thinking back the only time I ever had any discoloration was when we topdressed the day after. Everything should be fine though. I am also spraying on PennCross. Maybe roll for a day or two without mowing?

Thanks a lot for the responses guys. I did add a DMI along with some chelated iron. There where also was one morning that it got down to 36 F. I will be patient and enjoy the green speeds. Just makes me a little uneasy with the way they look but you all make me feel better about the situation. Again thanks so much!

    Kipp,

I'd say the cool morning or even cooler mornings in the 40's was probably the culprit with the discoloration. I'm always careful with my growth regulators in the spring here in Chicago as we never know the temp swings through April and May. I usually watch the forecast and will apply if I see a ten day stretch where each day is adequate for good bentgrass growth. With the GDD on applying proxy/primo so early this spring we seen some aweful color on fairways and tees, orange/bronze and I'm assuming the cool weather was a big part in that. Like the others said, I'd just wait it out and stomach the look for a few weeks. You start throwing fert at it you may have a different issue to deal with after they come out of regulation. I had a mishap with Cutless last year and went about 4x the rate per acre on tees and they were fine after they came out, I actually think I may do it again this year purposely. Best of luck and patience. Not sure where you are located but it's not getting hot enough yet to be a major negative effect at least I don't think.

    Best Regards,
    Justin

    Kipp,

Utilize the regulation to your advantage. Roll versus mow to limit mechanical stress to regulated turf. A iron application will aid in balancing your color concern. If the surface is smooth and rolls well- you are fine. If you continue to mow and begin noticing reduced density, that should be the major indicator for your concern.
