Any suggestions on Root Knot Nematode Control? I have Tif Eagle green here in the Dallas area. I applied Multiguard at 8gal/A about two weeks ago. Since I applied the Multiguard a few of the greens have even more symptoms of nematode damage. Prior to the application of Multiguard the counts were 950 root knot per 100 cc of soil and got results back today lowering it to 236 root knot per 100cc of soil. (threshold 66). The sample sent in came back negative for Bermudagrass Decline or any other disease. I have been pushing N,P,K and biostimulants for root development. I use a lot of Florentine and Redox products and still have not seen huge results.
Any other guys see there greens get worse before they get better? Any other options y'all have used for control of the nematodes and what have y'all seen work best for pushing roots. We had a cold front come through today and this weekend the grass should slow down. Hopefully the nematodes do too!

Avid is a miticide that works extremely well controlling nematodes. It is labeled in some of the Southeastern states. 8 oz. per Acre and inexpensive. Do a follow up application in 30 days.

James - The supplemental label on Avid is over 50oz/A due to its ability to gte caught up and bind in organic materials. It is showing promise when applied properly.

Application with all of these products is key. The Multiguard guys are the best at educating on timing and application technique so far. While my main problem is Sting and Lance, I have Ring and Root Knot well above all established thresholds.

I use Multiguard and Avid in a rotation that works for me. Nortica fell on its face, twice. The best thing in that bag is the truck load of Urea you put down with the bacullus firmus. I also switched away from my Floratine only program to a varied mix of Floratine, Redox, Loveland, and Green Industries products. I also took more than half of my greens fert and used a 5-3-2 organic with Prospect (Zinc Ammonium Acetate). This is my best fall in my last three here and feel I have a good handle on my rooting issues with my TifEagle

Thanks so far. I have used the Avid on a couple of greens that have Sting and Ring nematodes and works great. We are well below threshold on those greens. All the greens out here have root knot nematodes and did not get positive results from the Avid working on the root knot on my two rebuilt greens that have sting and ring. I have tried Nortica on two greens, but did not see huge benifits.

I have not thought of Curfew, but sounds interesting. I don't know anything about that product other than the literature online.

    Thanks
    Ryan

    Gentlemen
With application of Curfew how much per acre does it cost. Will one application be sufficient to get me through March or April till fall? I have heard some great things about it and the Multigaurd I am using it is working, but it would be nicer to do one application to help me get through till the fall.
    Thanks again,
    Ryan

    Ryan,

I've bought hundreds of gallons of MultiGuard over the past two years for our over 10 acres of greens. We are on a regular program of it, along with Nortica and Curfew. I think they all work, just different modes of action and applicability. We'll apply Nortica early, followed by a few apps of MultiGuard, then Curfew in the spring. In the fall, we do the MultiGuard and Nortica heading into winter. It's worked for us and dropped our counts by a lot.

I'd also suggest doing an app or two of Syngenta's new product, Briskway. What we thought was 'Tode damage was cleaned right up by the Briskway. Highly reccomened. Seven day recovery.

Does Curfew absolutely positively work right now? If it does it might be time to pull the trigger.

I would wait until spring for curfew, you might not recover from the damage if you do it now

Maybe you could trade someone a Curfew application in the Spring for Nemacur now. What is the best time to treat for rootknot? Is Curfew the same as Telone?
