We've got quite a few large clumps of tall fescue appearing in our poa/rye/bent fairways and are looking for control options. It appears to be the pasture type tall fescue and not turf type. I've heard Lesco used to sell a product called TFC with the active ingredient chlorsulfuron but it doesn't appear they are still selling it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

How big are the clumps? Too big to just take them out with a hex plugger or sod cutter?

    Rocky,

I believe the tfc also took out rye.

They're really patches and not clumps, some as big as 3-5 feet in diameter so we're pretty much past the point of no return as far as cutting out or killing with glyphosate and reseeding. There is poa/bent/rye mixed in with the patches so if I could spray it out I'd still have some turf left standing. It started coming in in the rough about 5 years ago with occasional small patches in the fairways. For some reason it seems to be spreading by leaps and bounds this year.

Look into "Certainty" herbicide. Sadly the selectivity you're looking for will probably kill rye, too. Good luck.
