Heading to Destin for a family vacation this summer. Was wondering if anyone knows of golf courses that I could play? Looks like there's about 7-8 courses close. Would like to stay around the $80 range or under. Thanks for any help, looking forward to it.

So many great courses are in that area. I have several family members that live there, and was recently up around the holidays.

As for golf, any of the Sandestin courses are worth a look. Especially The Raven. Also, Emerald Bay, Regatta bay and Kelly Plantation would be my picks. All are within a stones throw of each other on 98. Also hear Indian Bayou is good, but have never played it. Well worth the drive is Camp Creek further down 98 towards Panama City Beach. Gonna cost you a bit more than $80, but worth it if you can swing it. I played over the Christmas break and the course was in excellent condition. Right across the street is a little executive course you can play in under an hour - The Origins. The one I like the most though is the Santa Rosa Golf and Beach club. Just good old fashioned Florida golf.

Take the time to travel down 30A through Santa Rosa Beach, Grayton Beach, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, Watercolor, Watersound and Alys Beach. Lots of shopping, great eats and the most unspoiled white beaches you've ever seen.

Also check out Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin. They'll let you in at the main gate and direct you back. More shopping and eating and good nightlife.

Fishing should be spot on right about when you are there. A half day charter will get you a nice catch and a coolerfull to take home. Be sure to put some money aside for Bass Pro Shops.

I hope you have a great time. That's one of my most favorite areas in the country and one I wish I could get up to more often. Turn off the cellphone and just enjoy the slower pace of life.
