I wish I had written down the speakers name but unfortunately I didn't. My wife showed me U-Tube video that had been sent to her, showing a speaker discussing Homeland Security and wild fires. This guy seemed more than credible. He was saying that real suspicions exist about many of the fires these past few years being the work of terrorists. He specifically related to fires in Colorado, Arizona, California and a few other states of having suspicious origins far beyond the usual man-made disasters. He said that many are started on federal lands and timed delay devices had been found in several cases. He mentioned that the information found when Bin Laden was killed clearly encourages this as a tactic to hurt America. The goal is to further cripple us economically. I don't know if this is actually true but it is way beyond a scary thought. Has anyone else heard anything about this? It would certainly be simple to pull off without detection. I guess we are now using drones to patrol many of our wilderness areas so we can respond quicker and just maybe capture an arsonist with intents different than what most would think of. I would love to hear from anyone that might have further information, either positive or negative.

I can tell you in Wyoming and Colorado that the forests are, in many areas, completely riddled by pine beetle damage and wildfires are the natural process to revitalization. Plus, wildfires have been going on out here since the beginning of time. Combine an epidemic pine beetle outbreak, with drought conditions and lightning and poof!! I have a hard time believing the terrorist are more effective than Mother Nature. In fact, if we would have let some of them burn more often the problem would not be so bad now.

The real issue is people moving into terrain that has evolved with fire, and then expecting it to not happen to them. I'm not sure what is to gain for the terrorist. Maybe a revitalized forest?
