The Coast Guard family mourns the loss of 4 of its own today after the tragic accident that claimed the lives of the crew of Coast Guard 6535. These men probably did not "touch" as many lives as Whitney Houston or Davey Jones, but the lives of the people that they did impact have been changed forever.
They did not want to be celebrities, instead they chose to be servants, to answer the SAR alarm at any time and in any weather conditions. They spent many days and not a few nights training to be the miracle that comes scrambling to the rescue when all hope is nearly gone. May the crew of Coast Guard 6535 rest in peace. Semper Paratus.

    Jr.

Was that the crash from last Thursday? I agree they certainly don't get enough credit and thanked for their service. They should be remembered just as much as our other service personnel.

You can bet they impressed the people who mattered to them. They are heroes that most of us will not have the honor of understanding. Rest in Peace crew of CG 6535.

The memories and contributions of those that serve our nation are often overlooked for the outrageous, the celebs, the misfits that we often want to honor. A salute to them all.

Sorry to read about that, buddy.

I know all vets feel an affinity for all the branches, but after a career in, and retiring from, the Coast Guard......that's gotta twist your gut just a little bit more.

You've taught me a lot over the years that I didn't know. More people should read up on what you guys do AND where you go.

    Thanks for your service.
