Can anyone tell me if their club ( Private or Public) charge for a non playing golf cart rider? If you charge how much? Having an issue with a lot of couples and adult child type of problems. Can anyone give me some insight to how their Club or Course is handling this type of situation?

Green fee and cart fee are separate. Pay your green fee and 1/2 cart fee if riding with another golfer. Want your own cart?..pay full cart fee.

Pay for the cart fee. Response is that we have to insure them if they are injured. Or go to a driving range.

We allow it and don't charge if it doesn't add another cart. I think it's supposed to be $15 but I'm not sure how often it actually gets charged.

Don't charge. The spouse, friend, etc wants to spend time with their significant other but doesn't play golf. People are short on time and money. Golf is down 50% from 2-3 years ago. Chasing people away because of a cart seat is not a good strategy, IMO.

We don't charge either for a rider as far as I know. Public/Municipal

We will rent carts during kid's tournaments if the parents want to ride to watch.

Growing up in Florida we used to charge for the cart, I think it was $12, or maybe $16 (early 80's). If the golfer came in and wanted a half a cart and was playing by himself, my dad would ask him which half of the cart he wanted. The front or the back half. The whole cart was going out so the whole cart fee was paid. When we did have threesomes, the fees for both carts were split 3 ways. This was a public course.

My opinion is I wouldn't chase people away either, but as someone suggested, might want to check with your insurance carrier or have some kind of waiver to have them sign?

A non player, being a spouse, gf or perhaps a child wanting to merely ride with his or her parent........no fee

most of the time the parent brings the child and usually winds up playing anyway. So the cart fee is at least some revenue from this cheapskate. Usually the ones who hem and haw over the fee are the characters sneaking the kids out to play or drag their children along who have little interest anyway...

Twenty bucks for a rider spectator at Barona. We don't have it happen very often.

Thank you for your responses. Still not sure what to do. Going to ask around our area first before jumping to fast.
