This was my first successful Halloween since 2005. Hurricanes then the economy tanking pretty much killed trick or treating in my neighborhood. I think people are ready to be happy again. Most of my young kids were Cuban-descent and their parents go all out on their costumes and make-up. They were so cute and so polite. I am glad I kept my Halloween decorations. I will put them out next year.

Our neighborhood has changed a ton since my kids were young. We used to have easily 200+ kids come by for candy. I think we had maybe 12 last night. We still have kids in the neighborhood but I guess far fewer than when my kids were growing up.

What I can't stand is the homeowners who I know don't work nights, and are home most other nights, manage to spend the night out anyway. Cheapskates.

I'm a no cheapskate homebody. Lots of early twentysomethings with infants. I wonder who's eating the candy.

We got zero visitors. Of course I was expecting that since we live in the sticks. Somebody rings on my doorbell at night I've got a shotgun in hand not a tub o' candy. The boyo went with one of his in town buds and had a pretty light haul. Reported lots of 'lights out' houses and much walking for limited reward, but he was happy anyway.

We had over 400 people last year, this year was lighter we think because Wednesday night is usually church night in our town. We also have a house across the street who sets up a haunted house in their garage and admission is a can of food for the food bank.

My wife doesn't like the parents who are pushing kids in strollers who don't eat candy but still go out trick or treating, so we didn't hand out candy because of people like that and the haunted house. We made up treat bags for the neighbors and went to another neighbor's house and watched them hand out candy. I guess we are cheapskates.

If I put a political post in an apolitical thread in TIO Pete and Clay would remind me of that for at least a year.

Check the archives. I'm pretty sure I've never done as you suggest. But I might be wrong.

The cartoon was certainly Halloween related.

I'm certain I did one time but I am also certain it was in response to Scott's criticism of political posts on TIO.

(Whispering).....I'm just trying to get Scott to waste some time checking archives for everything I've ever posted, when he should be working.

He's not working. Scott and Steve are riding around with headphones on listening to Glenn Beck and Rush to find out the latest right wing conspiracies. Or Scott could be dreaming of sexy daughters of "old" superintendents checking him out in the ditch. But those are just guesses on my part.
