Hey, maybe something worthwhile will come out of this shutdown:

Hopefully the feds will learn something...
I'm sure they'll use the same efforts deployed to keep the American people out of our National Monuments, to keep people from crossing our borders illegally.

Amazingly, life goes on even with a partial government shutdown. Equally amazing, this AP headline writer still has a job.

    U.S. Shutdown Doesn't Stop Tahoe's Spawning Salmon

The government shutdown hasn't stopped the Kokanee salmon from their annual migration run at Lake Tahoe, or hundreds of visitors from hiking along Taylor Creek to get a glimpse of the fish that turn bright red when they spawn.

The U.S. Forest Service canceled last weekend's annual Fall Fish Festival and locked the gate to the Taylor Creek visitor center on the lake's south shore.

But the Tahoe Daily Tribune reports (http://tinyurl.com/kvhtk2y ) dozens of people have been traversing the trails on their own to see the fish navigate the shallow waters upstream before they lay their eggs and die.

Claudia Kreis of San Pedro was among those who parked their cars along Highway 89 and followed the stream into the woods. She told the newspaper "it was magical."
