    To all,

Just got an e-mail that said GCSAA on behalf of Evergreen Turf Covers in the subject line and then had a no-reply@gcsaa.org as the reply e-mail. It was an advertisement for these turf covers. My question is, "Is GCSAA sending ads on behalf on advertisers now or is this some company using the GCSAA name so I don't delete their e-mail?". Anyone else get the same thing?

    Thanks. Gary

On the bottom of the email.

"You are receiving this email offer because you provided your name, company information and email address to iZag Outsourcing Services (http://www.izagprocess.com) at a trade show, seminar or by way of a magazine subscription and have opted in to receive information and offers from third parties that are relevant to your business or role."

    Uhh....no I didn't.

    Thanks for the spam GCSAA.

    GCSAA Members,

The email from Evergreen Turf Covers is a new program whereby GCSAA will distribute on behalf of industry partners marketing messages. The revenue received is vital to the association being able to continue to provide programs and services to benefit members. As is with the case with other GCSAA newsletters, members can manage their preferences.

I did check with staff managing this program and the note at the bottom of the email regarding access to your emails is not accurate. The paragraph was provided as part of a template by the advertiser and deleting it was simply missed. No company participating in this program has possession of your email address from GCSAA. The message is sent by GCSAA on behalf of the advertiser.

I hope this answers your questions. Please contact me directly or continue to use this forum if you have questions or comments.

I looked under my profile and did not find where I could "manage my preferences" regarding GCSAA initiated SPAM. Could you point out where I can do this?

    Keith,

At the very bottom of the email, below the advertisement, on the left hand side there are a few lines of text with a link that says "manage preferences."

    Thanks for the reply Jeff,

It was already automatically sent to my spam folder here at the City when it arrived and the only reason I actually retrieved it was because I saw GCSAA on it. Like everyone else, see plenty of advertisements already but as long as I can manage whether or not I choose to get them it's not a big deal.
