Anyone heard from David McCallum? It seems like it has been a while since he posted here.

I can disagree with someone's politics and still consider them friend. Besides, David was very kind to my son who was in the Army Air Assault.

To be my friend we have to agree on something at least 5 times, and we are currently short by one.

The same thing five times or five different things?

Okay, it has been a few hours now and I am worried about him. If there is no response here in the morning I will call then update the group.

Scott, Davids doing just fine. I think the singles has really kicked him hard and recovery has been slow. I spoke to him a while back and he just feels he needs to back away from the forums for a while as even his eyes have been affected. He appreciates everyones concerns but he isn't really up to personal contact as of yet.
He is hoping to be back on line soon

Having the shingles sucks big time. Got the shingles a few years ago and had to see an eye dr. as it go into my right eye. I was lucky that it did not affect my vision. Hopefully David fully recovers. Prayers will be with him.

Thanks Red. I had never heard of this before and now the pharmacies down here are advertising shingles vaccinations. I have learned that you need a prescription to get one and they cost $130 dollars here. One of my employees told me that our insurance company covers the cost of the shot. I have the prescription and intend to check it out.

He will be back when he's up to it. Right now he just needs some rest. He loves nothing more than some good sparring matches, and right now isn't even up to sparring with me, so don't take his lack of communication personally

I know after my rumble with shingles we asked about getting the shot (glad your insurance company covers it, I hear most do not), me and my wife were sitting there asking our doctor about us both getting the shot, and he said, no and no, because we weren't old enough. They don't like to give them to people under 60. He told us the shot would last 25 years and they hoped that by waiting until 60 they would cover most people the rest of their life.

Thanks Red for the update, I knew he had gotten them but, and I know what it's like, but it sure sounds like I got lucky with mine with the suffering he is going through, (I'm might be guessing but that LSU loss to Clemson probably didn't help either?).

My employee is over 60, but his son got it at 36. I am 55. If they do not cover it, I will go ahead and pay for it. After two horrifying divorces and being a white Christian liberal, I do not tend to take anything personally.

I am sure all of you guys know this but if you have ever had chicken pox you will need to get a shingles shot. I was one of the rare ones to get chicken pox twice. I guess that makes me more of a risk and being the fool that I am, I haven't received the shot. Probably better do so at my next physical. i hear shingles can nearly drive you mad! Not comfortable!

If you have the chance to get the shingles shot, get it. I was on a few high calibre pain pills that were stronger than vicodin and just below morphine for a month. Then I was put on steroids and a bunch of other stuff. It was not a fun 2 months dealing with pain, blurred vision and rashes all over my face and head. I was only 38 when this happened to me and my Dr. told me I am too young for the shingles shot. Dr.'s are trying to get the medical insurances to cover the shingle shots for all patients that have had chicken pox, as they are seeing people in their 20's and 30's getting shingles. It totally sucks to deal with and they can come back and get you again. Stress is a huge factor in causing shingles.
