I just thought I would share this interesting tidbit that was shared with my Boss. Of Course he thought it was rather funny.

It's funny how the Head Golf Pro down to Assistant Pro need to have college and be members of the PGA but the "Head Groundskeeper" needs a back ground in Landscaping.

Nice to see I qualify. I can mow grass and do some landscaping duties. It was also a nice touch to have both hyperlinked to a more clear definition, because on first reading I was unclear.

He has also written some fine articles on "How not to catch a cold" and "How to make a conference call"

Don't forget "How to play blackjack". One of life's pressing issues which can only be explained by a scholar educated in Buffalo.

I'm so glad that i finally have answer who I report to.... the Asst Golf Professional. Apparently the Executive Director isn't qualified now...

Is the Asst. gonna have time to take care of my managerial needs while he doing the majority of the lessons?

    Just saying...

Is this a joke? How am I supposed to take this seriously? Sad part is, some young buck somewhere is taking it seriously because he read it on the internet.

And how can GolfLink even publish this? What kind of a joke website is this that thinks this is true?

I'm re-writing the job descriptions and sending a rebuttal. He left out the part about "needs to know how to fold a sweater" for the Head Golf Professional.

Did they include the part about intimidating the golf pro so they will do what you want?

This was emailed to my boss (seriously) by a golfer who was upset that I would not allow carts on the course for a few days. I had a 1/2 inch of rain on top of 8 inches of frozen ground. He said that all great golf course have this chain of command.

The great part is I received a 100% backing from our CEO who wrote the golfer a short polite reply backing up myself and my staff. I have to admit that felt pretty good.

So who is the biggest jack-a$$, the author of the story or the golfer who actually bought into the author's idiocy. The ol' chicken or egg question.

Looks like George must have failed in his past role, a vocation similar to how he describes ours in which experience is valued over education. Somewhere along the way, he decided to start writing about things of which he had no clue. Good news for us is when and if we are all summarily dismissed we can have a solid gig writing for GolfLink!

The player is a guy who to my face is the nicest guy and has never had a complaint or even a question. This is not the first time his emails have made it back to me, they are always the same complaint. The 3-5 times a year I don't let carts out (generally during our off season). I am very professional with him in person, I understand that a guy who plays golf in 30 MPH wind and 40 degrees depends on playing golf to fill his day. I'm never going to bite the hand that feeds me.

So to me it is the author.

I would have to say the author, without the story and hearing the back-story on the golfer, the golfer might have not thought that way if the author hadn't provoked him.....although I guess if the golfer were to believe that drivel, maybe he thought it was something similar to that setup?

I just wonder if we haven't been spending our (GCSAA) money smart enough if the message hasn't got out there? Of course with this wired in world, it probably does seem harder to reach everyone. By Sean's CEO backing him and his staff, at least the message seems to be reaching some of our employers, of course I'm sure Sean has had a hand in that as well.

    Mel,

There are always going to be those that just don't get it. No matter how much money is spent it will fly over their heads. Don't go bankrupting the system for the few.

I agree Clay, just wondered if it was missing more then a few heads.

I'm sure there are tools out there that show how successful our outreach is, or there better be. It just sometimes seems that it's not working, but that could be those few bad messages seem to be more noticeable then probably all the positive ones.
