Does anyone on this forum have the last name Boehner? How do you pronounce your name? I see no "A" or combinations of letters that could sounded out an "A" To me the closest sounding of the name would be "Boner"
    with a hard "O" sound

I haven't been this confused on spelling since Chris Thuer became Chris Teer

I think Boner is correct....or at least appropriate.

Correct me if I'm wrong...I think the "A" is silent.

You are correct. The nonexistent "A" is silent.

Can't be the "A" sound Larry. That would require it being spelled "eh".

Did I see him crying again after the lost? Not really the kind of behaviour I've come to expect from Republicans

Wouldn't a boxing match between Boehner and Weiner have been great! Just imagine for a moment the commentary from the blow by blow announcers. It would be priceless.

Gary, ones mind could really run wild on that one. I hesitate to even provide an example because it would probably be pulled off the site immediately! The play on words would be funny!

The name is German. There were u-ots over the "O" in Germany which gave it the "A" sound. The BB couch of Syracuse has the last name Boeheim. How is it pronounced? My last name is Boehm and pronounced "Bame". Just go with it! Richard Boehm, Turf Agronomist, US Air Force.

Adam Moeller from the USGA says his last name is pronounce Miller. He has a similar Germanic background. I will have to tell him it should be pronounced M-eh-ler moving forward
