Hello all, we all know walking on frosted grass is a no no but what about on the grass when its just below freezing but not frosted. so far I have always held guys back until we hit 33 but was wondering if really made a difference when the temperatures were lower and if they were dormant.

    What is your opinion?

If the turf is burned out from frost, you won't do any additional damage to it. We routinely let golfers out when frost is on the fairways and not the greens. It can't get any more brown.

Last year we had a large semi-professional event for two days in which they were playing on frost. Saw zero issues with it other than the prima donnas crying about ice build up on their shoes.

I completely agree with Andy. I have never had any issues sending my guys and golfers out in these conditions, obviously with exception of our greens.
