    I need to apply an ultra fine powder in a Scotts spreader. Does anybody have a suggestion for a mixing agent?

    Thanks Michael

    What is the powder (in other words, how critical is the rate)?

    Michael;

    If it's a drop spreader you can try saw-dust (#3) as a carrier.

    Hello,

    Mike, the rate is 4 lbs per thousand on greens only. It is dry and dusty. I have a Gandy drop spreader as well as Scotts Accupro. I was wondering if slightly humid sand will go out evenly in the Gandy and kill some of the dust.

    Thanks Captain and Mike

    Saludos Michael

    Michael,
    I would opt for the sand. That way you can easily calibrate and use your preferred topdressing material. If it's slightly damp sand, you can test how well it feeds from your spreaders before mixing in the product.
    If it works well I agree with the Captain, the Gandy would produce less dust and drift.

    Hello Michael,

    Dry and dusty sounds like the old Scott's FF II we used to spread on our greens for snow mold protection years ago. Sure did smell. We used a drop spreader and did two directions. Even more years ago(40+) we used Merfusan which was dry dusty and miserable to spread. We mixed it with Milorganite and spread with a Scotts rotary. Still alive after doing that for a few years but no hair to speak of!
