We have a 1996 toro workman with mitsubishi gas engine and mikuni carb. Every so often engine acts like it is flooding and has no power. We park it for the day and go to use it the next and it runs fine. Kind of seems like it is being choked out by an auto choke or something?? If anyone has run into this and has some ideas we could really use the help.

I believe we had something similar last year. Try replacing the fuel pump. After we replaced distributor, checked wires etc. it was the fuel pump. If you have another workman swap the two pumps and see if it does it on the other. Hope this helps.

Not sure that the problem we are having is do to a lack of fuel, but more of a too much fuel problem. We can smell gas and it will backfire when it is acting up. But I will try a different pump just to eliminate that possibility. Thank you for the input.

Give SteveS a little time... if you answered his security questions properly he is very fast to let you in.

Ive had this same problem for years.... Just recently swapped out a mikuno carb that is adjustable and the problem still persists. Contacted Toro and they said buy a new carb. Very frustrated as I have already spent a lot of time and money and it still does not run right. Still trouble shooting and will fire back if I figure something out

I had similar problems with two older 3200's. My mechanic at the time knew about the issue and replaced a diaphragm in the carb that helps control the choke. Rebuild kit is pricey. We found used carb from Mitsubishi utility cart business. It might have been G&R imports, man named Derrick. Parts@grimports.com

We had the same problem with our '96 workman 3200.
We put a new fuel pump on and that did help but we started to have issues again.
We then discovered it was just getting to hot so we did a radiator flush, pulled the radiator and cleaned all of the debris out from around it and we replaced all of the belts.
    running good now

Did you discover the overheating issue by using the factory gauge? Or did you use some other means of temp reading?
