Hope everyone is in good health....I am having a little problem with crabgrass popping up on my old Southshore Bent push-up greens----would Acclaim Extra or Drive be sufficient to spray on greens? And if anyone has used either herbicide, could you include your rate that you use?! Thank you...

I'm seeing the same issue in my green's as well. I just sprayed Acclaim extra for the first time today. I went out at a very conservative 2 oz/A rate. I've talked to guys who are spraying at 5 oz/A not ready to be that aggressive. I put some fertilizer in my mix and a fungicide. I've been told no issues with tank mixes. Most guys in my area are using it for goose grass control. Spraying every two weeks for now.

Just curious to know what your temps are running in the heat of the day? And if you see any problems.

This is my first app and temps are 85 - 90. I had concerns about spraying in high heat but the guys I talked with assured me that they had no issues spraying it in high heat. This is my first app so I can't attest to having any experience spraying in the heat. This is why I went with a really low rate to see how my turf reacted. I've got a pretty severe crabgrass issue on a couple of greens so if I want to clean them up I'm going to have to spray in summer heat or just deal with the crabgrass. I did have a 12-0-0 foliar with iron and mg in my tank. Sprayed at 5 oz/m.

Bensumec spring and fall and mid summer quicksilver a few times works for me. Keep a 6 week buffer between these two chemicals or you will damage the turf.

    Keith,

What's your rate with Bensumec? I did two split apps first one on April 20th and second on June 1st. Sprayed at 3.75 oz/m. Not liking the results I'm seeing. I would typically spray Demension but I have Cohansey bent grass and have been told not to use Dimension. Located in southern Indiana

    Jeremy,
I do not know your weather and so timing is also key?
Japan is like SE USA kind of.

My 46% Besumec is at 5 oz / per 1000sf and if a little to warm I will split into two aps a week or two apart apart in the spring (March) +- when the cherry trees bloom is best time.
In the fall October 5 oz and grass is slowing down for winter. I have T-1 / L97 greens on 100% sand

Quick silver from June to September every 3-4 weeks at 0.04 oz per 1000
some years I still see a few crab grass sprigs in August but not many. In collars that are Zoysia I see a lot but that is easy to kill just have to take care as people will walk chemical on to greens and I get yellow foot marks.

    Keith
    Good luck,

I did not see crabgrass on the label for Quicksilver?? You have seen good results with it.

No, I do not think it will do much of anything for crab grass that said it seems to stop it from starting? So it may suppress it enough not to start? On bent not much I can use, but what I am doing works so I will keep doing it. Quicksilver does help and even stop algae and that is why I am using it. Being US Army Japan my approved list is short and getting shorter so if other chemicals are on the market, it would do me no good.

    Quinclorac @ 1lb/acre
....I use Quali-Pro 75%....It works just fine on bent.

@1lb/M? or 1lb/Acre? I have sprayed Drive (Quinclorac) at 1/2 lb/acre on greens with very good results. always goo to add a little methylated Seed oil to get it in to the plant faster.
