Wondering what everyone is using to show the golfers where the pins are located one the greens. We currently use red white and blue flags, but are going to one color flags. Now we need to come up with a new way to show pin placement. Thanks.

We have 3 zones indicated on the back of our score cards showing the location of 1,2,3 on each green. The zones alternate from green to green, i.e. if we are in zone 1 then #1 would be in the front, #2 in back and #3 in middle. This pattern continues throughout. The respective zone for the day is indicated by a sign at the first tee. We are in the process of making pin sheets that would allow our golfers to know exactly how many yds from the front and from the side of each green. Hope this helps...

    Jeffery,
In October 2012 we switched to a solid color for the front nine and back nine, after 15+ years of using red-white-blue flags. We have play all year long but it is much slower November-February. I did not get my first comment or question about it until last week. We see so many players with range finders these days i do not think it is nearly as important. We keep the course in rotation so a observant player should have no problem. I estimate we save 15-20 minutes per set-up that equates to over 40 hours of man power a year. Supporting making this change is the fact that all the PGA Pro-Am's we hold (3-4 a year) always require us to use single colored flags. The only thing I would have done different is change the color to something completely different like yellow. After 15 years its easy to fall back into seeing a red flag and thinking the pin is in front.

We use one color of flags on each of our 3 nine hole courses. For pin position we use the small flags that say please repair ball marks. They are held in place by a rubber grommet. As for pin position bottom of the stick is front and the top is back. Only problem we have with them is that some golfers like to move them around and with our laser link sticks some people get real grumpy when the small flags get moved over the reflectors and their range finders don't work.

We use red, white, and blue flex stakes for our 150 yard markers...front, middle, and back respectively.

My course had been red, white, blue for 20 years as well. This year will be the first year we go to a one colored flag (yellow with our logo). I made diagrams of each green, with green depths, and divided each into 6 sections. These diagrams are located on the scorecard, in each golf cart, and are available as pin sheets in the proshop. There is a sign on the first and tenth tees with interchangeable numbers for that days pin location.

When I made the diagrams with the 6 sections, I made the numbers so that each section of the green obviously only gets used once every 6 days. The numbers are arranged that one day the pin is on the left side of the green, the next day right, and back and forth. The order does not go strictly front, middle, back, but rather it's random (ex: front, back, front, middle, middle, etc..) but their are still 6 flags in each section per day.

Like I said, first year....we'll see how it goes.

We have it on our score card and every golf car also, we change pins 365 (-2 days 12/25 and 1/1) and post the number are at the #1 tee each day. If we miss a day for snow I stay on my one year program.
