I have a variety of the plastic recycled hazard stakes and would like to spruce them up with some paint. I have never painted them before and I'm not sure what to use. Any suggestions what to use?

Used vinyl guard for the first time this spring. Won't paint ever again.

I ran a power planer along them on each side. Takes about 5 seconds. Shave off a 1/32 and they are as good as new

this is the quickest way to get them back to normal. you could also sand them with a course sandpaper. if you want to paint them then you need to use a plastic paint or a primer called bull dog. it will allow paint to stick to just about anything.

Thanks for the replies. I've been experimenting, since they are course and porous sanding only makes them duller and doesn't bring the sheen back to them. I've found a water base exterior rustoleum produce that with a second coat really makes the posts look sharp. I'll probably go this route. FYI, I have a variety of round and square posts so planning is not an option for the round posts.
