The idea of having members come out to the course and work on a certain project, has been brought up. We are thinking of starting small and possibly doing a bunker renovation (remove old sand, clean drain lines, install new sand). It would be a Saturday or Sunday event. My self and assistant would help direct them. I know this has been discussed before but could not find it, so for those that have done it or currently doing it. What are some tips and ideas to make this work?

I'd start smaller than that like divot days or clean up branches on the golf course after trimming. Giving a member a shovel and asking him to clear a bunker is not the kind of things my members volunteer to do. I have a volunteer club with a list of things they can do ranging form painting OB markers and filling divots to trimming small tree suckers with a hand pruner. Bigger than that can get risky

We thought about that and figured doing the bunker would draw more attention (volunteers) since it is visual to the membership. We have plenty of bunkers that need help! Email went out yesterday to all the members and we will see how it goes. It also helps me to answer their question "Well can't y'all just...."
