measureing well depths Cancel The title field is required!

   As a condition of using our new irrigation supply well, we have to monitor the neighbors well depths. The tools that are sold to do this are 600 dollars give or take. Does anybody have a cost efficient way of doing this?

   We use a portable Water Level Sounder, brand is Powers Electric Products. 100' depth one is PWS-100F for $310, goes up in price a little per hundred more. Works great, drop it in and once it touches water it sends a current, we then mark and use a roll tape to measure depths. We have to do weekly readings from April-Oct, off times its once a month.

   Sounds crazy, but drop a small stone and count, for every second its 20 feet. Try it out. Call me crazy but I used to drill wells and have a lot of well pump experience. Although, I am sure that you probably want something a little more sophisticated. Its is a good experiment.

   We have been having a few issues ourselves lately. Try a fishing pole with a bobber. Let it drop take out the slack and measure the depth.
