Our club is looking to install in-ground trash receptacle at each tee box. Would appreciate any info on the pros and cons of this and possibly where I should look to purchase these. Thanks

We have many of our clubs in the TPC Network that are using these in ground containers.  They work well, do not really take any extra care that you would normally give a normal trash can.  Depending on soil type, installation is the most difficult part of the process.  In my travels around the world, most clubs outside the US do not produce he amount of trash that our courses do.  Not sure why???

To comment about the amount of trash, Do you think there's a correlation to the active walking participation internationally and the fact that most US courses are filled with Cart riders and the social "fun" aspect of beer drinking with buddies is more prevalent than serious golf.  I say this somewhat tongue in cheek, but let's face it, Golf isn't viewed as a gentlemen's game in the US in all corners anymore.  We as properties are doing the gimmicks to get a younger generation involved.  I bet you don't see nearly as many "shotgun excursion scrambles" that encourage consumption and so on.  I'll admit, I'm guilty of this as well.  Its an American Culture thing.  Granted, very much an umbrella statement, but I would be willing to bet the percentage of membership here agrees.

I bet you don't go to Europe and hear blaring speakers, find carts with multiple USB ports and rarely find touch screens that offer these same amenities.  It is in my opinion we are shaping the game to fit the players desired rather than educating and disciplining what should still be a Sport, and walking, exercising and stewardship are allowed!

Heck of a rant, but the comment on trash accumulation in the US vs other nations sparked a mental feud of mine.

Does it really matter, as long as you have a job and income.

Thanks Dennis, I appreciate the response and I know you know how difficult it will be to install these in the ground here...

In some cases, it does matter.  I realize growing the game and expanding horizons to new generations is important.  But I also take offense to some of the blatant disregard for etiquette and respect of the property when these shenanigans are encouraged.  I don't necessarily like finding a cart overturned or damage to the property when clear cut boundries are neglected to be viewed.

If the development of this trend wasn't sped up so drastically, it might be a little less shocking to me.  Sooo, yes, I'd like to see a blend of the good times tightened into good golf etiquette as well.  Frankly, I don't know how some of these  patrons leave these golf courses and make it home.
