I'm looking at purchasing an iPad. I currently have an iPhone 4S. The problem I'm facing is what are the benefits or things I can do with the iPad that I can't with the iPhone? Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Dan,

I have both and quite honestly the only difference is that the ipad has a larger screen. I find it is easier to do certain things which involve typing, like email, blog posts, searching internet, etc... There are certain apps that work better with the ipad than with the iphone, more or less due to again the larger screen. Downfall to ipad over iphone is that if you want to use out in the field you have to set up service for it or have a hotspot thing for your cart. I thought I'd use mine more but find I really don't.

Dan- I have both. The camera on the phone of course is better, and I only use that for pictures. When I walk into a network or hotspot, those pictures get transferred to the ipad and if they need to be edited, I do that on the ipad. Unless you have a 3g ipad, your use is limited in the field. If I need to make changes in irrigation, I end up using my phone on the course, but it can be a bit of a struggle with the small screen. Last summer when we were getting our irrigation system installed, I would take a picture with my phone of the asbuilt in the field, go back to the office and pull it up on the ipad and enter the information and was ready to use that evening. It may have only saved a half hour but after 12 hours, it helped a lot. Plus, I have those asbuilts with me all the time, and I can't count the amount of times I have pulled them up on the ipad for information. I have taken pictures of blueprints with the app Iannotate, and made changes or made notes on them and emailed them off. It is all in how much you want to use it, and everyday there are more things you will find to do with both the phone and ipad. good luck !

I use LogMeIn Free to access my irrigation computer from my phone. It works great and it's free.

I use a 3g 7" Android tablet from Sprint and and 1GB of monthly service costs me $19.99. Cheaper than the $7k they wanted to replace my repeater. I can control the irrigation from my iPhone, but the bigger screen of the tablet makes it so much easier. Rainbird Nimbus II using the LogMeIn app.

If you have Toro NSN you can use Toro NSN Connect, its included with your subscription and allows you some of the options that would be in LogMeIn Pro (Namely file transfer, so you can copy your SitePro backup to your home computer). If you don't have NSN, LogMeIn Free is great as well.

I use the NSN connect for the lynx but before that had a free app to get into the PC and run Sitepro. Actually for a couple months ran both at the same time. If I am not at home I always use the phone to run it, but I don't have 3G on the iPad. The iPad I find is easier than the laptop, but get a stylus- really makes it easy.

You need a Mountain Dew app.
