I am in search of the best way to aerate our ponds. I have used fountains with so-so results. It the best way to go a combination of a couple of them? Or is there some better then the others.

I walked into a issue at my new club and have been told to get this done in our irrigation pond ASAP. I was hoping to do more research at the GIS but I might not be able to wait that long.

    Thanks

I use Air-O-Lator. They have been great and very dependable pumps. Easy to service and repair and quick to get parts out if you need them.  I know there are a lot of brands out there, but this one has been great to me.

There are aerating fountains, but I don't think they do as good a job as the bubblers. We have fountains for decoration and bubblers for aeration.

Anyone try the Koenders, or another company if they exist, windmill driven aerators? I have been interested in them for a while.  They were at the show once a while back.  For a few years now I have been looking at solar powered aerators.  I can't get the owners to give the green light.  I put it in the budget every year and every year it gets cut.  I would think the solar might be a lot less to maintain, which for our small staff is important.

Water is expensive to move and maintain, air is cheap ! Does a better job IMO.

Sorry, I am late to the party.
Generally bubblers work better due to the fact they affect the entire water column where standard fountains only affect the water in the top few feet, not being as effective during times of the year where you may have stratification in the water column.

Just as important would be keeping an eye on the nutrient levels in the pond that feed the algea blooms fountains and bubblers are charged with keeping down. There are a lot great products out there like Phoslock that can tie up the phosphorous (no aquatic license needed) and greatly reduce algae blooms.

    Hope that helps!
