their course as a par three course when it is extremely wet? I tried this the first time a few Fridays ago after we had 1.5" of rain overnight. the members that did come out and play the course really appreciated not having to slosh around to hit their balls. We did it a second time this week (after receiving 5.4" of rain) and will offer it as a choice on the really wet days in the future. We simply moved one gold tee marker on each hole, to the area we wanted them to play the hole as a par three. I know the seniors especially like it and the younger guys seem to enjoy a change of pace. Just wondering if anyone else has done this also.

We've done it. We've also done it for men's league in the spring so they could get done before dark.

I have heard of it being done the first time last year and thought it was a great idea. I had never heard of it before or considered doing it myself.

We have two par three tournaments a year during the winter months. We fill the course up with 5 somes then do a shotgun start followed by dinner. They are always successful events and help with revenue during the wet months.

Whatever it takes, yes, good idea! Rounds = Revenue. We are in the people pleasing business.

Interesting idea. The last course I worked on we had an annual July 4th Par Three Tournament. It was set up very different and difficult. Some tees were placed under tree canopies, in native areas or even on the next tee to hit back to the green from. All distances to the pin were laser sighted for accuracy. It was always one of the members' favorite events.

We have done the annual par 3 golf round also where we play the course backwards. Our membership thinks that is a blast and to some extent gave me the idea. Sometimes when we get a lot of rain my course will be about 30% under water. This creats issues with playing golf as you can imagine. In those instances I would generally move a few tee markers forward so our members do not have to hit into water (generally 3-4 holes). Recently while we were flooded as such I decided to just set the whole course up as a par 3 so no one would have to chase after their balls and make the round faster. It seemed to go over very well and I have started doing it for our wettest days for the seniors.
