I have been trying to get a handle on forecasting Algae attacks a major problem in Japan and I have gained a little doing some degree day work with a combination of heat index (heat index I have, until now thought was a useless number) I have noted in this excel program some hot days with high temperature and humidity and that on the degree days that hit above 120 or so that is when we started to show algae and when up to 128-130 almost no stopping it. Not sure if this is going to help others but maybe? We are on Bent greens with a water pH at 6.5 to 7 and 100% sand greens top-dressed two years with a 40% profile 60% sand. Only major problems are Brown patch and Algae. I have to treat so heavy for these that no other fungus has a chance to show. I rotate about 8 chemicals over the 12 months. In the summer a lot of Fore, Daconil and Signature.
Attached file is my own Degree Day formula that I dug out of the web, Cannot find a local service so did my own.
Hope this might help others.
