Sorry for the rush spelling job. I will be starting a new job at a club, April 1and it opens that day for the year. forecast for that day in snow! One of the fairways last year had most of it grass killed went a head gate failed above the course. It run for several weeks before the water could be shut off. Question? Should I round-up the area (mostly bent left) then core aerate and add some milorgnite, then drag, then over seed. Or should I take soil test and wait. We are waiting for summer help(4) and water to fill the lake before charging the irrigation system.

If bent lived - why kill it - add to it.

    Where are you now?

I would have to agree bentgrass is good, mother nature sending her meassage to plant more bentgrass and move forward! Keep it simple methodology!

So Tim and Gregg are you saying over-seed the fairway with Bent or reintroduce using rye grass?

You could overseed bent or rye...where are you located?

I overseeded rye into a similar situation and let the bent do its thing. Mainly due to a pricing issue to reseed the entire golf course from flooding. Pros and cons for either option.

I would say its based on your ability to maintain either with fairway spray program, more or less. I love bentgrass fairway as over seeding yearly is not required, just over seeding divots with sand seed mix. Spray program is the biggest expense for sure, although i would expect Ryegrass in your area needs it to especially if wet conditions when very warm and humid occur. Mowing height a bit lower for bent than rye, it goes on the plus and minus board. I have grown both over the years and become a bentgrass lover as my experience with it has grown!

    Thanks Guy's for the information.

I am in the middle of Wyoming near 6,000 ft. I think I will look at using rye. The course is small and so is the budget.
