Anybody have any expereince with custom agronomics products? They are considerably cheaper than most I've looked at and I need to save some money this season. I have been using a little Floratine and am real pleased with the products, but they are costly.

Also looking at trying some new wetting agents for greens. I have used Revolution, Respond, Pervade and Retain. I'm looking at some 'older types' like Aqua Aid and Primer. I have some LDS spots to keep an eye on and maybe spot treat, otherwise feel all I need is a good penetrant to blanket the rest. There are alot of different products and application rates out there so would like to hear some feedback on what's worked for you guys. I usually need 3-4 applications per season. I also use Dispatch on my sand based fairways. Anyone using this on greens??

    Thanks for any feedback!

    Dan,
I will be the first to start the broken record. I believe many will post experiences and opinions similar to what I am about to share. Wetting agents are site specific.

I have run through almost the entire gamete looking for wetting agents that do what they are advertised to do. What I used at my past facility failed miserably at my present facility. I used products that most others were using and were the next best thing since sliced bread and found results that would have had me fired if working at a private club. My best advice is that if you are looking at saving money or want better results, try a wide range of products on a trial basis first. The key to wetting agents is to determine what you are looking for in a product. Are you looking to hold water (surfactant) or push water through (penetrant) and or a combination of both. I apologize that I can't be more specific on products but I think I would just hinder your process of finding the products that fit your facility the best.

As far as fertilizers, don't forget the basics. I am a bag of soluble nutrients type of person and have done well for my owner. I believe there are situations for the specialty products (Floratine, Holganix, etc) but look at what the plant really needs and has always needed and I think you should be able to save a few bucks.

Just my humble opinion.... Good luck,
    Jim

    Dan,

I wouldn't hesitate using anything from Custom Agronomics. They have a great team and produce very good products. I have used Forti-Phite Si, 0-20-26 + 1% Silica, ACE 29 0-0-29 Potassium Acetate, Forti-Phite, 0-28-26, Sil-Sheild 0-0-8 Potassium Silicate, HUME-8 0-0-8 + 1.5% Fe and TurfWorks with Minors, They blend many other vendors foliars for them. The cost is great too!

I ditto what Keith said about the Custom Agronomics product line. I have used everything he listed with great results.

If you want cheap, nothing wrong with melting down Urea, Uflexx, pot nitrate and mkp. Throw in a good minors pack and you're under $75/ac.

As for wetting agents, I've been solely Magnus and Duplex from Precision Labs on two courses for several years. LDS is unheard of.

Andy - are you spraying duplex with regular greens sprays? If so, what rate?

    Thanks

We apply Magnus monthly at 4ozs/m and Duplex bi-weekly at 1oz/m with soil sprays and water in.

I don't spray wetting agents any more, I inject them. I put 30 gallons of Lesco - wet into a 500 gallon tank and run it every night. One tank lasts me a month and I don't see LDS any more.

    Regards,

    Steve
